Not all "young Heads" are assholes!
Man, after all of these years, I can't believe that you assholes are still proud of what you did to this scene!?! My Dad wouldn't allow me to go to Dead shows, & he is the same Father who would hitch hike across country with me on his back! He, also, used to let Rainbow fucks stay with us, until we came home one morning to find an empty house & a note from the "kind folk" that were staying with us that read, "thank you for your kindness & generosity" That's what I remember about Rainbow people?? Anyway, We had tickets to two shows in '94, but after some of his friends told him about how bad the whole lot scene was, he gave the tickets away, & instead we went to a couple bluegrass festivals. You people ruined my chances to see the band that I still dream about seeing & you seem to be proud of it!! I know that this is supposed to be a review, but I couldn't help but comment after reading some of these "reviews" & "fond memories!! You people are supposed to be older & wiser, but at 30 years young just yesterday, I cannot believe that I used to look up to you guys??? Thank God for the few truly KIND humans that made it out of this joke with their souls!!! PEACE BE UPON YOU & YOUR'S!!

The downfall
I stopped attending any Dead or Phish shows after July of 1993. The crowds of these newly minted neo-rainbow-rasta-Dead head robots were the reason, pure and simple. There was so much angst--yes, angst and such an attitude of entitlement amongst so many to attend every show possible...the drunken Shoreline parking lot brawl I witnessed post show in May of 1993 was the last straw for my attendance at Grateful Dead shows..I gave away the rest of the Shoreline and Expo run to 2 unsuspecting young guys that evening. These 2 "heads" actually cursed us for fooling them with the FREE tickets me and my buddy were freely handing them. They thought we could only be scamming them by being so generous. What a disconnect!! Because they were so suspicious, I readily gave them the 10 free just to shock prove to them that not everybody in the parking lot wanted a piece of you or your wallet. Weird moment. Time to "seal that silver mine", was all I could think after that exchange!! ADIOS and back to the mountains and woods of Washington state. Never looked back. You could hit a Jerry Garcia Band show during those years and you would be in an almost empty stadium--compared to what the Grateful Dead name would attract, I swear. Not enough hype or parking lot "scene" for the new kids and the old ones quit comin' in the 80's. I laughed every Jerry Band show I caught at the time because the shows were so uncrowded, mellow, and good!! Jerry's kids still knew how to behave....

Only one fond memory of this show
This is one of two shows in ten years that my dog made it into. We were posted in our normal Phil Zone lawn spot when one of my bros come by and said hey man your dog is in the show. Sure enough her and her dad were ripping up the hill. Typical lot dogs, smarter than half the rainbows on the lot. It didn't take much to wrangle em up and back to settle back in the Phil Zone to puff hard. These were the first shows off the west coast in almost 3 months. There were some smokin hot Warfield shows to start off 94 before we headed easy again for the spring. Man what a different world it was out there after spending such a long time in The City.

Fond Memories
I was surprised to see the fond memories of people who broke down a fence and stampeded the show. This should not be a fond memory for anyone. It was this behavior that lead to the death of the scene and the "tour from hell". The Dead were very clear that if you didn't have a ticket for the show, STAY HOME. They pleaded with the "fans" to stop ruining the tours for the band and the people who had tickets. This plea for sanity was ignored by a bunch of drunken veggie burrito eating assholes. It made for a very sad end to what had once been the last true American adventure. I doubt that those of you who consider gate crashing a fond memory have much of a conscience or any intelligence, but perhaps my words will make you think about your actions, and how much they bummed out the band and the true DeadHeads. Shame on all of you.
Oh, the show isn't bad.

True Story
As best as I can remember, this is how it all went "Down"..
I'm standing along the fence enjoying a wonderful veggie burrito, when this dude comes up and says something to the effect of .."check this out.. I bet if I crawl under this fence that guard won't stop me" .. I nod in agreement and continue eating and before I can get another bite... the dude is walking right past the guard.. and the guard didn't do anything.. over the brick wall he went..
I didn't think much of it.. good for him!
As I'm getting to the last of my tasty burrito... two more people come up to me and asked if I knew guy who just went over the wall.. I say "no" He says.. "look at this fence. anyone of us can crawl under it, wanna come with us ? "
I nod "no" and say "yup.. look at these post here.. I bet if you wanted to, u guys could pick it the fence and collapse it.. nothing is really locking it in.. "
As I taking my last bite of my burrito.. These guys are picking up the fence!! I'm thinking.. Damn I didnt think they do it! .. I look back towards the parking lot and *gasp* as hundreds of people are running towards us.. I'm like " oh Sh*&t! I best start running are get trampled under foot!! I drop my burrito (damn) and start running to the brick wall...
That night I made it all the way to Front row center.. and the stuff they were playing on stage screen was blowing my mind.. Crazy show...

stones
any show that closes with Throwing stones is a clinker in my book. Almost as bad as bullshit cassidy first set clsoers. Playing is pretty unispired. They needed more than a new soundman to make this show better.

Brick Fence was there
That brick fence was already there. There were a lot of people who entered for free during the Saturday night show however. I was standing near the back of the lawn crowd and almost in cue with the start of Stagger Lee ,as I remember, there was a huge uproar that I mistook for people being excited about the song selection when a buddy of mine grabbed my arm and turned me around. It was quite a scene as what seemed like thousands of heads poured over the wall and what looked to be 20 or so security guards tried to stop them. The security guards mostly gave up, but I spotted one security guard who was desperately holding on to one illegal intruder...seeing this 3 more security guards rushed over and helped him with this poor teenager who looked to weigh about 110 lbs, but they made sure he didn't get in for free. After the fracass the crowd that I was once near the back of went on for 30 to 40 yards behind me. Still one of my fondest show memories.

does it stack up with other shows? sure. is it the "best of the 90's" maybe not.
Still, fantastic mix and good tunes.
